Product Description

The Supertainer is the industry standard for 42×48 footprint steel IBCs — a heavy-duty tote tank built from 10-gauge steel and welded on a robotic line for consistent weld quality and container integrity. Available as a 304 stainless steel IBC, a 316 stainless steel IBC, or a painted carbon steel IBC, it is a reusable steel IBC engineered for the most demanding bulk liquid storage tank and chemical storage tank duty. A unique stamped no-heel bottom drains completely, and a 2-inch ball valve discharge — with side, front-centre, or true-centre options — handles clean transfer. Every Supertainer carries a 22-5/16-inch cover with EPDM gasket and a fusible or Rieke relief vent, so the tank can stay sealed during filling, plus lifting lugs for overhead crane or hoist handling and 3-way fork entry for forklift and pallet jack. It is DOT UN31A certified for the shipment of flammable and combustible liquids under Title 49 CFR, and — as a UN-rated steel container — Transport Canada accepted for Canadian carriage. Best Uses & Applications

Steel Supertainers suit operations moving aggressive, high-value, high-temperature, or flammable liquids that outmatch poly totes — where a reusable, industrial steel container is the right long-term asset. Material choice (304, 316, or carbon steel) should match your chemistry; our team can help you confirm compatibility.

  • Flammable and combustible liquid storage and transport
  • Aggressive or oxidizing chemical handling
  • High-temperature or high-purity liquids
  • Food, beverage, and sanitary applications (stainless, with sanitary options)
  • Bulk liquid storage and industrial manufacturing
  • Warehousing, distribution, and reusable packaging programs
  • Applications needing built-in secondary containment (double-wall)

Available Models & Configurations

The Supertainer is configured to the job — material, wall design, discharge, and interior finish.

  • Material

Choose a stainless steel tote tank in 304 or 316 for corrosion resistance and sanitary duty, or a painted carbon steel tote tank for a cost-effective, rugged option. Both are heavy-duty, reusable, and available as a single stainless bulk container or across the full size range.

  • Single-Wall vs. Double-Wall

The standard single-wall Supertainer covers most bulk liquid duty. The double-wall Supertainer adds built-in secondary containment — sealed inner and outer tanks that meet 40 CFR 264.175(b) and hold 10% of the inner-tank volume between the walls, replacing fixed basins or dikes in an SPCC program.

  • Discharge & Options

Side, front-centre, or true-centre discharge; 2" ball valve with optional 15° offset male quick-connect; sanitary fittings and electro-polished surfaces for high-purity applications. Base sizes of 42×42, 42×48, and 54×54 inches support capacities from 120 to 793 gallons.
