Product Description

An IBC heating blanket wraps the full container in insulated, thermostatically controlled heat, holding temperature sensitive materials at a working temperature instead of letting them freeze, thicken, or crystallize. The full wrap heating blanket design puts the heating element against the whole tank surface, giving even heat distribution rather than the hot spots a spot heater or forced-air setup creates. For any Canadian operation storing liquid outdoors or in an unheated warehouse, an IBC tote heater is the difference between product that pumps on demand and product that has to be thawed, degraded, or written off — and it is the simplest defence against winter freezing. Durastar supplies tote heating blankets and IBC heating jackets from multiple heating partners, so we can match the product to the job rather than force one line onto every application. A standard IBC tote blanket heater or flexible heating jacket fits 250 to 550 gallon totes with an adjustable thermostat and UL/CSA certification, while drum heating and pail sizes cover the rest of the container range. Where the material is flammable or the site is classified, a hazardous area heater rated for C1D2 is available. Talk to our sales team and we will size the IBC tank heater to your tote, your voltage, and your target temperature.

Best Uses & Applications

Heating blankets earn their keep anywhere a liquid gets harder to move as the temperature drops, or where a product spoils, separates, or sets up if it gets too cold. Set point and blanket type depend on the material, so confirm compatibility with our team before ordering.

  • Freeze prevention for water-based chemicals, DEF, and process liquids stored outdoors
  • Viscosity and flow-rate control — keeping thick product pumpable
  • Food and beverage: honey, syrups, chocolate, edible oils and fats
  • Oil and gas: crude, lubricants, drilling fluids, and additives in cold field conditions
  • Resins, epoxies, adhesives, and coatings that thicken or cure out of spec when cold
  • Paints, inks, dyes, and pigments requiring a stable storage temperature
  • Agricultural chemicals and fertilizers through a prairie winter
  • Hazardous and flammable materials in classified (C1D2) areas

Custom & Industrial Heating Solutions

Beyond the tote blanket, Durastar sources custom heating solutions for the rest of the plant. Where a process needs heat held on a line, a vessel, or a piece of equipment rather than a container, we work with our heating partners to spec heat trace cable, jacketed and immersion heating, and controlled process heating built for the site and its area classification. These are quoted per application rather than off a shelf, so the starting point is a conversation about the material, the temperature, and the environment.

Typical custom applications

  • Pipe and line heat trace — freeze protection and process temperature maintenance on process piping
  • Oil and gas: flow assurance on crude and heavy liquids, wellsite and pipeline freeze protection
  • Viscosity management on lines carrying oils, fats, asphalt, and other thick product
  • Tanks and vessels: jacketed, immersion, and over-the-side heating for bulk storage
  • Valves, pumps, and instrumentation kept above freezing through winter
  • Hazardous locations: explosion-proof and Class I Division 1 / Division 2 rated systems
  • Controls: thermostats, digital controllers, and monitored control panels
  • Insulated lids, custom-shaped blankets, and one-off builds for non-standard equipment
